KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Iran has wants all neighbours to support efforts for peace in Afghanistaninfo-icon and ensure inclusive dialogue between the Afghan government and the Talibaninfo-icon.

Speaking at a meeting of the International Contact Group on Afghanistan, Iran’s representative renewed Tehran’s support for the Afghan peace process.

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted Rassoul Eslami as commending the role played by the Ghani administration in bringing peace to the country.

A military approach to the war in Afghanistan had failed to restore peace to the country, he argued, believing a timeframe for the pullout of foreign troops would be a wise move towards the beginning of peace talks.

As a representative of the Afghan people the envoy said, the Afghan government played a key role in peace efforts. All political actors should cooperate with Kabul, he said.

America’s military presence in Afghanistan had only fuelled chaos, insecurity, organised crime and production of illicit drugs in the country which had become a hotbed of terror outfits, especially Daesh, he claimed.
