KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Attorney General Office (AGO) on Monday said 21 people were found guilty of plotting the deadly attack on the Kabul Inter-Continental Hotel about a year ago and sentenced them to jail terms from five to 30 years.

Jamshid Rasouli, AGO spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News 13 of the convicts were found guilty of negligence and awarded two to five years in jail and the remaining eight including organizers and supporters of the attack, awarded 22 to 30 years in prison.

He said the court’s verdict against the mentioned figures was handed down on Monday.

At least 22 people, including 15 foreign nationals, were killed in the hotel assault on January 21, 2018 by a group of gunmen.

Three weeks after the attack, owner of the hotel and three officials of Kabul-Balkh Security Services (KBSS) firm responsible for security of the hotel were arrested by the AGO and placed on no-fly list.

A number of workers of the hotel had also been arrested as part of investigation into the incident.
