Agreement signed on direct Herat-New Delhi flights

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): An agreement was signed with KamAir airlines on direct flights between western city of Herat and New Delhi, the Indian capital, via the air-corridor between the two countries.

The agreement was signed between acting minister of commerce, KamAir and the chamber of commerce and industry of Afghanistaninfo-icon.

Samir Rasa, public relations in-charge for the President’s Advisory Office on Finance and Banking Affairs, said on the occasion that straight flights between Heart and New Delhi would start soon.

He informed about 6,100 tons of goods, including fresh, dried fruits, carpets, Qaraqol skin, saffron and others had been exported on 460 flights via air-corridors of Kabul, Kandahar and Mazar-i-Sharif so far.

The exports worth reached millions of dollars, he said, adding that about 20 tons of pine nuts were being sent to China on six flights every week.

The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) deputy head Khan Jan Alokozai hailed the government’s recent measures in field of exports.

He said the new agreement could help traders send their goods to Delhi in a timely manner.
