Nad Ali residents walk 20-kilometre to encourage intra-Afghan talks

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The residents of Nad Ali district in southern Helmand province on Monday walked 20-kilometre to encourage the government and Talibaninfo-icon direct talks for peace and reconciliation.

The residents had walked 20 kilometers from their district to Lashkargah, the provincial capital this morning.

Sayed Jalal Agha, a participant of the walked rally, told Pajhwok Afghan News the purpose of lengthy walk was to encourage intra-Afghan dialogue.

He said, “We urge the Afghan government and Taliban to start peace negotiations in order to explore an end to the ongoing conflict.”

The people of Afghanistaninfo-icon had been suffering causalities in the both sides of war, thus the ongoing war should be stopped, he added.

Qudatratullah, another protestor said: “They themselves took the initiative of walk as people had been tired of war and want peace in the country.”

A number of other protestors expressed similar views and urged the Taliban and government to enter peace negotiations.
