PESHAWAR (Pajhwok):  The United Nations will resume the voluntary repatriation process for Afghan refugees living in Pakistaninfo-icon next month.

Pakistan-based refugees, who wish to return to their homeland voluntarily, have been asked to contact their nearest facilitation centres.

A statement from the UN refugee agency said the Afghans with valid proof of registration cards could register with the UNHCR Voluntary Repatriation Centres (VRC).

The centres are located at the Azakhel refugee camp in Nowshera district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and the Balili area of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan.

Last year, UNHCR repatriated over 15,000 individuals.  In November, the repatriation process was halted for three months.
