KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Pakistani Embasssy in Kabul on Tuesday rejected a senior Afghan trader repesentaive’s claim that commercial goods worth $1.5 billion smuggled to Afghanistaninfo-icon from Pakistaninfo-icon.

In a statement, the embassy  expressed strong exception to what it called “irresponsible statement of Khan Jan Alokozai, first vice president of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Alokozai, also co-President of the Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, had said goods worth US$1.5 billion were smuggled from Pakistan through crossing points in eastern Kunar and southeastern Helmand provinces.

“This statement is purely speculative and the embassy hopes that Mr. Alokozai would refrain from making irresponsible statement on Pakistan-Afghanistan  bilatrale trade which is extremely important for the welfare of the peoples of the two countires”, the emabbasy statement said.
