PESHAWAR (Pajhwok):  Pakistaninfo-icon’s poultry exports to Afghanistaninfo-icon have declined, sparking concerns among government and industry stakeholders.

The fall in poultry exports would be taken up with Afghan officials, industry leaders and Federal Minister for Food Security and Research Muhammad Mehboob Sultan have agreed.

A delegation, led by Big Bird Group Chairman and Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) Export Committee Convener Abdul Basit, and Sultan discussed the issue on Tuesday.

“We are making efforts to enhance poultry exports and rightful demands of the industry will be considered,” the minister promised. The association was asked to comply with international standards.

The minister added disease-free poultry was fit for exports. The National Veterinary Lab provided the facility to check samples, he continued.

The association demanded duty drawback facility on the export of poultry products. It also sought a waiver pen cash margins on the import of raw material for value addition in poultry.
