Nangarhar: Uprising commander, muezzin among 3 killed

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): An uprising commander has been killed in a bomb blast along with a partner in the Rodat district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Saturday.

Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the uprising commander, Qari Zia-ur-Rahman, and his associate were killed in Qarghai locality of the district late Friday night.

Nasim Shinwari, the district administrative chief, told Pajhwok that the commander was busy defusing on the bomb that went off.

The Talibaninfo-icon have claimed responsibility for the bomb blast.

Elsewhere, unknown gunmen shot dead a mosqueinfo-icon muezzininfo-icon in the second police district of Jalalabad city, the provincial capital, late Friday night.

Attaullah Khogyani also confirmed the incident to Pajhwok.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Asif, a resident of the area, told Pajhwok that the slain muezzin, Noor Mohammad Shinwari, had no enmity with anyone but he was gunned down last night by unidentified assailtants.

There has been no claim of responsibility for the murder.
