Ismael Khan asks foreign forces to leave Afghanistan

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Former jihadiinfo-icon leader Mohammad Ismael Khan on Thursday emphasized on the pullout of foreign forces from Afghanistaninfo-icon and asked the people of Herat province to be united for peace and stability in the country.

Addressing a mammoth gathering to mark the historic revolt of the people of Herat province on this day twenty years back against then communist regime, Ismael Khan said peace and stability should return to the country in a way that there was no more fighting and bloodshed.

The Herat uprising turned violent when the then government resorted to airstrikes and firing against protesters, which resulted in the killing of innocent people, including womeninfo-icon.

“We want the last foreign soldier to leave Afghanistan so Afghanistan become an independent country where all its people can live in an environmentinfo-icon of mutual respect and establish a government which provides justice to all.”

He asked the people to stand united for peace and stability the way they stood united during the Jihadinfo-icon.

Governor Abdul Qayum Rahimi read out a message from the president and said the president had asked the people of Herat to stand by the government thet way they did in the past.

Rahimi said foreign countries benefited from the ongoing bloodshed in Afghanistan and asked the Talibaninfo-icon to reconcile with the government.
