KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghan politicians and Talibaninfo-icon peace negotiators are expected to meet again on April 14 this time in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

The first meeting between the sides that took place in Moscow, Russia, on February 5 was opposed by the Afghan government.

The next meeting between Afghan politicians and the Taliban was expected a few days ago, but it had to be delayed for some reasons.

Former president Hamid Karzai, who chaired the first meeting in Moscow, would also chair the next meeting.

An official close to Hamid Karzai, wishing anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News that consultations about the next meeting with the Taliban in Qatar were underway.

The source said the next meeting would be held on April 14. Karzai’s office is busy talking with various political figures and probably 80 people would participate the upcoming meeting, the official added.

In the previous meeting in Moscow, 40 Afghan politicians had participated.

Former aide to Karzai, Shahzada Massoud, also confirmed to Pajhwok that discussions over the next meeting were ongoing, but the list of participating individuals was yet to be finalized.

He said more details about the meeting would be revealed after Nawroz festival that marks the start of the new solar yearinfo-icon.
