HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Flash floods induced by heavy rains have killed at least 10 people, including four womeninfo-icon and two children, in western Herat province, an official said on Tuesday.

Ghulam Jilani Farhad, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the floods triggered by heavy rains over the past two days had caused life and financial losses.

He said four women had been killed as a result of the flash floods in the Ghoryan, two children in Rabat-i-Sangai and two men in Zindajan districts, as well as two others in the provincial capital.

Hundreds of acres of land, residential houses, orchards and water-heads had been destroyed by the floods, the gubernatorial spokesman explained.
