Pakistan reiterates commitment to stable Afghanistan

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): A peaceful and stable Afghanistaninfo-icon is a necessary for Islamabad, says Pakistaninfo-icon President Dr. Arif Alvi. 

Addressing the Pakistan Day parade in Islamabad on Saturday, the president said his country acknowledged Afghanistan’s territorial and political importance.

“Pakistan will continue to play its part for lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan, being the desire of all Afghans, who are fed up of wars and we are with you,” he added.

Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammad, who was on a three-day visit to the country, was the guest of honour at the parade.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said in an interview that Afghanistan an area where Pakistan and China held common views.

Speaking to the Global Times, he said the two countries were committed to peace and development in Afghanistan and an Afghan-owned peace process.
