QRCS project to benefit 25,930 people in rural areas

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Qatar Red Crescent Societyinfo-icon (QRCS) has inaugurated a humanitarian project to provide water and sanitation (WATSAN) services in remote areas of Afghanistaninfo-icon.

As many as 25,930 people in 28 villages of seven districts on Kandahar, Helmand, Farah, Kabul, and Nimroz will benefit from the one-year project, a dysyrmrnt gtom QRCS said on Monday.

Sixteen water wells will be dug and equipped with solar pumps in 16 schools to provide clean water for 16,000 students and teachers.

As many as 15 buildings will be constructed, each consisting of six toilets, ablution areas and sewage systems in 15 high-density schools in the north.

A similar building of 20 toilets and 40 ablution areas will be constructed for the 3,000 students and teachers of the Darul-Uloom College in Bagrami district of Kabul.

In western Afghanistan, 66 water wells will be dug and equipped with manual pumps to meet the water needs of more than 990 families.
