Panic as 2 ‘rabid’ dog bite 20 people in Parwan

CHARIKARinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Two suspected rabid dogs bit 20 people, including 13 school children, within 24 hours in Jabal Saraj district of central Parwan province, spreading a great panic, an official said Monday.

The victims included children, womeninfo-icon and men, said Abdul Rauf Sarwari, technical and sectorial sector head of the district.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News the suspected rabid dogs attacked 20 people, including 13 students who were on their way to school.

The victims were residents of Qala Sorkh, Qala Sahra, Mayan Gozar, Gozar Paeen and Gul Bahar villages of the district.

He said the bitten individuals were provided initial treatment at the district clinic, but they were referred to the provincial civil hospital in Charkiar, the provincial capital, and Kabulinfo-icon for anti-rabies vaccination.

Saifullah Baidar, the district’s administrative chief, told Pajhwok they had been informed about the incident and had appointed a team eliminate the rabid dogs in the area as soon as possible.
