Pompeo, Qureshi want Afghan peace bid to continue

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The United States and Pakistaninfo-icon have stressed the need for the peace process in Afghanistaninfo-icon to continue.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo underlined the need during a telephone conversation on Tuesday.

Both sides hoped that the visit of US special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad would provide an opportunity to further build on the gains made so far, a statement from Foreign Office said.

Foreign Minister Qureshi briefed his American counterpart on measures taken by Pakistan to implement the National Action Plan (NAP).

Qureshi insisted it was important to enhance interaction between the top leadership of US and Pakistan.
