KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The foundation stone of a building for Afghanistaninfo-icon’s permanent representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was laid in Jeddah city of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, officials said.

Wali Naimi, Afghanistan envoy to the OIC, on Tuesday told Pajhwok Afghan News that the building would be constructed on a land owned by Afghanistan in Al-Hamra district of Jeddah city.

He said they would have their own building for representing Afghanistan in the OIC and a hope being turned into reality.

“Afghanistan owns around 2.5 acres of land in Jeddah city but there was no building constructed on it and the Afghan ambassador and many other Afghan diplomats paid high rents for living in other buildings”, he said.

He said they were finally able to start construction of a building in one acre of land and its cost would be paid from the Afghanistan’s national budget.

A surrounding wall around 2.5 acres of Afghanistan land in Jeddah is also under construction and a complex for Afghan diplomats in Saudi Arabia is expected to complete until 2021.
