Education director being grilled on corruption charges

Education director being grilled on corruption charges

Apr 11, 2019 - 14:38

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The educationinfo-icon director of eastern Nangarhar province has been referred to the Attorney General Office (AGO) for interrogations regarding corruption.

In a letter received by Pajhwok Afghan News, the AGO asked the Nangarhar appellant court to interrogate Hasibullah Shinwari based on public complaints.

Last month, Pajhwok published a report regarding Shinwari’s alleged corruption in 11 different cases. The official, however, rejected the allegations as a conspiracy against him.

The appellant court, meanwhile, acknowledged receiving a notice for investigating corruption cases against the education director. Mohammad Wali Hashimi, the appellant court chief, said the AGO ordered him to interrogate Shinwari.

He said Shinwari had been interrogated several times and his case was under trial. Pajhwok tried to contact Shinwari for comments, but failed despite repeated efforts.
