MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Public representatives and civil societyinfo-icon activists on Sunday expressed their deep concern over the deteriorated security situation in northern Balkh and Samangan provinces.

Haji  Raz Mohammad, the Samangan provincial council’s head, told a gathering in Mazar-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, that their province’s security situation had worsened over the past few weeks.

He said Talibaninfo-icon militants were massing in several areas of the province and they planned to disrupt the security situation there.

Dara-i-Suf Bala, Dara-i-Suf Paeen and Roi Doab districts of Samangan faced serious security threats, he adding, claiming 95 individuals had been killed and another 104 wounded in recent past.

However, he did not say those killed and wounded were security forces or civilians.

Raz Mohammad accused the government of paying no attention to the security situation of Samangan.

He warned if security officials did not pay attention, the province would soon fall into the hands of Taliban gunmen. He also claimed there was no enough coordination among security forces in the province.
