TORONTO (Pajhwok): Some Afghans living in Canada have declared their support to the incumbent government in Kabul and the US.
Mahmood Ahmadzai, one of the participants of the meeting, said the current system based on democratic principles should not be sacrificed in the US-Taliban negotiations.
He said achievements over the past 18 years had been made at the cost of blood of Afghan soldiers, children, men and women. The gains should not be sacrificed in the garb of a US-Taliban deal, he insisted.
Dr. Shah Wali Sharifi, another participant of the gathering, underlined the need for organising similar events at the current critical time.
He said the participants exchanged views and aired concerns regarding the existing system.
They also issued a resolution, saying the creation of an interim government might not help secure a peace agreement but would spark another round of war and destruction. Such agreements would be considered treason.
