Floods damage homes, agriculture land in Parwan

CHRIKAR (Pajhwok): Flash floods rendered hundreds of families homeless, damaged large swaths of agricultureinfo-icon land and 30 kilometres of roads in northern Parwan province, officials said Tuesday.

The floods that followed heavy rains also closed the Parwan-Bamyan highway.

Ahmad Lemar Usmanyar, the district administrative chief of Syedkhel district, told Pajhwok Afghan News the increasing level of water in Ghorban and Panjsher Rivers posed threat to homes on their banks and around 600 families from nearby villages had fled their homes.

Noor Aqa Same, the administrative chief of Syagard district, said the flood destroyed 15 homes in Dahan Dara area of the district and threatened over hundred more homes.

Shamsul Haq Shekhani, a member of the provincial council, said floods damaged hundreds of homes in Dawlat Shahi, Qala Malak, Bahadur Khel and Alikhel villages of Bagram district.

There were no reports about casualties.
