PPM to launch protests against Khalid, Al-Fatah offensives

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The People’s Peace Movement (PPM) on Wednesday announced carrying out protests across the country against the government’s ‘Khalid and Talibaninfo-icon ‘Al-Fatah’ spring offensives.

The government last month announced its military offensive “Khalid” before the Taliban launched their annual spring offensive Al-Fatah on April 12.

The UN and some other countries have condemned the Taliban announcement.

Bismiullah Watandost, the movement’s spokesman, said from tomorrow they would carry out demonstrations in 10 provinces against the government’s and Taliban’s operations.

He said during the protests they would call on the warning parties to make peace with each other like the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah.

He added the PPM would also urge both the warring sides to announce ceasefire as soon as possible.

The People’ Peace Movement called on all residents, civil societyinfo-icon activists, parties and officials to attend their nationwide protests.
