KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The trip of Afghan political figures to Doha for participation in a three-day peace conference has been delayed, a government source revealed on Thursday.

Two days back, the government of President Ashraf Ghani issued a list of 250 people, including 52 womeninfo-icon, who will take part in the upcoming intra-Afghan dialogue in the capital of Qatar..

The meeting was expected to take place from April 19 to 21 between individuals on the list and Talibaninfo-icon representatives. However, on Wednesday, Taliban opposed the government list of participants.

In a statement, the militant movement made clear that no one would be allowed to represent the government in Kabul at the planned conference in the Qatari capital.

On the other hand, some sources say the Taliban had released another list of 243-individual -- most of them the Moscow conference participants.

The government team was expected to leave Kabul for the Doha on Thursday afternoon. But a well-placed government source told Pajhwok Afghan News the trip of the Afghan delegation had been postponed.

The official said the visit had been delayed indefinitely due to inclement weather in Kabul, But another source linked the delay to deep differences between Qatar, Taliban and Kabul over the list of participants.

The source said the Qatari government had agreed the agenda and the list of individuals would be drawn up by Kabul; otherwise the Afghan government would reject the meeting.
