KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghan government says intra-Afghan meeting in Doha has been canceled because the organizers failed to address the demands of Afghan government regarding the preparation of the participants list, according to statement on Friday.

A grand meeting of Afghan politicians and the Talibaninfo-icon was scheduled to take place on April 20, 21 but was delayed at last minutes due to lack of consensus on the list of participants.

“The government of Afghanistaninfo-icon is committed to honorable peace and believed on the participation of all segments of societyinfo-icon in the intra-Afghan dialogue,” reads a statement from Presidential Palace.

It added the 250-member list for the intra-Afghan talks in Qatar was decided by a non-government committee and in consultation with all political and social forces.

“After the all preparations for the departure of the delegates was finalized a new list of participants was sent to the government from Qatar which was in contradiction with the will and determination of the people of Afghanistan and was a disgrace,” the statement added.

The Qatar government dismissed the conference after it failed to address the reservations of the Afghan government

However, Centre for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies hosting the talks in Doha, however, said the dispute stemmed from disagreement over the size and composition of the respective delegations.

"This unfortunate postponement is necessary to build further consensus as to who should participate in the conference," Sultan Barakat, of the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies, said in a statement.
