Attack on MCIT ended, 5 assailants among 15 people killed: MoI

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Saturday said 15 people, including Five assailants were killed in a coordinated attack on the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) in Kabul.

MCIT compound came under a bomb attack in capital Kabul before noon on Saturday followed by gun fires which was came ended this afternoon, Nasrat Rahimi, spokesman of the ministry of interior affair, told media persons at the scene site.

He said an attacker blown up himself near to the ministry and four others wanted to enter the ministry but security forces did not allow them.

Rahimi said after five hours clash three attackers were killed by security forces and took control of the area.

Spokesman of the ministry of interior said Seven civilian and three security forces were killed and three womeninfo-icon among eight others wounded in the incident.

According to him, around 3,000 employees of the MCIT, ministry of Information and culture, Afghan Telecom and Afghan post were shifted to a safe area by security forces.

On the other hand, MCIT minister Shahzad Aryubi wrote in his social account that five of his ministry’s employees had been killed and a number of others wounded in the attack.

Some security forces have claimed that 12 people, including five of the MCIT employees were killed and seven others wounded in the coordinated attack.

Talibaninfo-icon have rejected their involvement in the attack while Daesh rebels’ flag has been seen with the slain attackers.
