KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday visited the Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology (MCIT) after yesterday’s terrorist attack and ordered urgent assistance for the victims.

The Saturday noon attack started with a bomb blast that followed a gun-battle between five attackers and Afghan security forces.

The firefight lasted five hours after all the attackers were killed. Ten people were killed and six others wounded

A statement from the Presidential Palace Media’s Office received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that President Ghani paid a visit to the MCIT before noon on Sunday.

Security officials briefed President Ghani over the protection of civilian causalities and beating the militants in the yesterday attack.

President Ghani again paid tribute to the victims’ families and appreciated security forces for preventing further casualties and their great job and directed authorities concerned to provide emergency assistance to the families of those killed and wounded.

The president during his visit to the MCIT said no one could get benefit from the ongoing conflict and that targeting civilians and administrations showed the weakness of militants.

He said evacuation of civilians from the ministry during the attack by security forces was unparalleled as they showed their heroism and abilities.

The president said the nation and the government had categorically stated that the ongoing conflict had been imposed on them and it had no Islamic or other justifying reason.

Ghani said the terrorists who lacked the courage to face the Afghan forces had turned their guns on innocent civilians and government offices.

“Who is benefiting from the war? We saw displacements, migrations and lawlessness, what else you want? The Afghans want a system and discipline and the real voices will be heard the Loya Jirgainfo-icon” Ghani said, hoping peace, stability and security would return to the country soon.
