KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IECinfo-icon) on Sunday said the Wolesi Jirgainfo-icon election final results from southern Kandahar province would be announced today and from the remaining five provinces, Kabul, until the end of this week.

The Wolesi Jirga elections were held in October. However, results of the elections have so far been announced from 28 provinces and those from the Kuchiinfo-icon constituency, Kabul, Kandahar, Maidan Wardak, Paktia, Baghlan and Kunduz provinces are yet to be declared.

Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) spokesman Mohammad Qasam Elyasi told Pajhwok Afghan News that the IECC handed over the Wolesi Jirga election results from Kandahar province to the IEC before noon today and might be announced this evening.

He said they planned to announce the results from southeastern Paktia results by tomorrow.

Meanwhile, IEC deputy spokesman Zabihullah Sadat said the Kandahar results would be declared this evening.

According to him, the results of the rest of the zones would be also announced after their review and once they received them from the electoral complaints commission.

The IECC spokesman said the Wolesi Jirga election results of all zones, except Kabul province, would be shared with the IEC and would be announced until the end of this week.

Earlier today, State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ghulam Farooq Wardak said the 17th legislative term of the National Assembly would be inaugurated this ongoing week and ministers-designate would be also introduced to the lower house.
