KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani while visiting the Consultative Loya Jirgainfo-icon hall in Kabul on Tuesday said all hurdles on the way of peace have been addressed.

The four-day Loya Jirga discussing peace is expected to hold in Kabul on April 29 and around 3,000 people including 30 percent womeninfo-icon would participate in the event.

President Ghani met members of the commission tasked for convening the Consultative Loya Jirga led by High Peace Councilinfo-icon (HPC) Secretary Umar Daudzai before noon today (Tuesday).

“We the Afghan people had always resolved our issues through Jirgas” a statement from the Presidential Palace received by Pajhwok Afghan News quoted President Ghani as saying.

President Ghani said, “Afghan women would play a strong role in the Loya Jirga; therefore, the number of women participants should not be less than 30 percent.”

He said the reason behind instability in the country was lack of clear principles and regulations, an issue he said would be fundamentally solved if referred to the constitution.

President Ghani further added that people from across the country could freely share their views and suggestions on peace during the Jirgainfo-icon and that there would be no “censorship”.

He said national, regional, international and Islamic conditions were made available for peace in the country and hurdles on the way of peace have been removed.

Ghani said Loya Jirga in a concentrated dialogue would determine a framework for peace talks with the Talibaninfo-icon.

“One of the advantages of Loya Jirga is that no one can censor it and people’s representatives can express their opinions, suggestions and consultations unrestrictedly. It depended to the Loya Jirga and its members how would they act for finding an effective way for reaching to peace,” said Ghani.

Peace was a dream in the past but it has turned into a main discussion over the last two years and every Afghan thinks about their country with no war, he concluded.
