53 civilians, security personnel freed from Taliban prison

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Fifty-three security personnel, including eight civilians, have been freed from the Talibaninfo-icon prison in the Daichopan district of southern Zabul province, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Friday.

MoI Deputy Spokesman Nasrat Rahimi said security personnel and civilians had been freed during security forces operation on Thursday night in the area.

Thirty-six personnel of the Afghan National Army (ANA) and commando forces, eight policemen, one personnel of the National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) and eight civilian had been released during the operation, he said.

The Taliban have not yet spoken about the incident.
