Jirga attendees urged to think for Afghanistan goodness

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Some members of the Consultative Loya Jirgainfo-icon on Peace on Monday urged their fellow participants to think with full freedom and open mind and share their views without any pressure for the goodness of Afghanistaninfo-icon.

Monsuqah Jilani, a participant of the Jirgainfo-icon from central Kapisa province, expressed her happiness over taking part in the Consultative Loya Jirga and said the event offered womeninfo-icon an opportunity to share their advices and opinions about ending the decades-old war.

She said, “Peace has its opposition and support in both inside and outside the country, today also due to some conflict over the election of deputies, the event was ended without any decision, but we hope the deputies and secretaries will be elected in order to continue their work normally.”

Fawzia Ulemi, a resident of southern Helmand province and participant of the session, told Pajhwok that the welcome speech of President Ghani and other officials raised hopes that lasting peace would be achieved in the country.

She said people from different parts of country were taking part in the event with full enthusiasm, however some participants based on their political conflicts wanted to face the Jirga with trouble today.

She urged all participants to think with full freedom and open mind and share their ideas without any pressure.

She further said there would be no family who did not lose their members to the ongoing conflict, therefore unity was needed not to allow the bloodshed of civilians. She urged the Talibaninfo-icon to respect the nation’s decisions.

Mumtaz Sarwaryan, another participant of the massive Jirga, said women’s participation was not as big as expected, but she urged the Jirga’s chairman to give 50 percent chance to women in election of the deputies and secretaries of the event.

She termed the massive Jirga as crucial in the current situation and said all people were tired of war and wanted peace.
