KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghanistaninfo-icon will give a better performance in the ICC Worldinfo-icon Cup beginning this month in England, hopes ace spinner Mujeebur Rahman.

With the inclusion of veteran spinners Rashid Khan and Mohammed Nabi in the team, Mujeeb said the Afghans would do better in the upcoming mega event than they did in the 2015 edition.

“I have learnt a lot having spent quality time with Ravichandran Ashwin in the KXIP set-up. He has given me a lot of useful tips and I am sure I will execute those plans in the World Cup,” he said.

The spinner spoke of his shoulder injury in the latest edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). But he is fighting fit for the World Cup.

He told journalists at a promotional event in India: “The IPL schedule is so hectic and you are travelling a lot. It’s not that you get a lot of chance to talk about the game.

“But since you get a chance to bowl in matches where there are batsmen who will be there in the World Cup, it helps a lot,” he was quoted as saying by NDTV.

The teenager said: “Our aim is to qualify for the semifinals. All three of us have different strengths and the main thing that we discuss on-field is to stick to our respective plans…”
