PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Thirteen people have been killed and dozens wounded in two separate bomb attacks in Balochistan and Punjab provinces of Pakistaninfo-icon.

Three people, including a tribal leader named Wali Khan Achakzai, were killed in an explosion in the Killa Abdullah area of Chaman on Wednesday, paramilitary forces said.

Levies officials said Achakzai was going home from work when the explosion occurred. He was killed along with two guards in the blast. His car was destroyed.

Soon after the explosion, security forces rushed to the site and cordoned off the area. The victims’ bodies were shifted to a local hospital for autopsy.

Earlier in the day, 10 people including five policemen were killed in a suicide bombing at a famous shrine in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province.

At least three civilians were among the fatalities resulting from the attack on an elite police unit tasked with Data Darbar security, officials said.

More than 25 people were injured in the suicide bombing. The casualties were evacuated to Mayo Hospital and King Edward Medical University.

Punjab police chief Arif Nawaz confirmed five Elite Force personnel were among the dead. The explosion took place near a police mobile vehicle parked near Data Darbar's Gate 2 at 8:45am.

The Punjab chief minister's spokesperson said the attacker was a 15-year-old boy, who came out of a fruit shop, approached the police van and then detonated the bomb.

All regional police officers were directed to examine security arrangements in their respective areas and remain alert during the holy month of Ramazan.

The shrine was also attacked in 2010 when a suicide attack killed more than 40 people. DIG Operations Ashfaq Ahmed Khan said the Elite Commandos providing security for the shrine were targeted.
