10 civilians freed from Taliban-run prison in Kunduz

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The Afghan National Army (ANA) on Saturday said its Special Forces had freed 10 civilians from a Talibaninfo-icon-run prison in northern Kunduz province.

A statement from the 217th Pamir Military Corps said that ANA Special Forces conducted a raid on the Taliban jail in the Aq Sari village of Chardarah district late on Friday night.

It added 10 civilians were released during the nighttime operation.

A security official, who wished to go unnamed, confirmed to Pajhwok ANA’s Special Forces raided the prison in the district. H said 10 civilians were freed.

He said the area had been under Taliban control for the past 10 years. The Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.
