Dozens of fighters killed in security operations

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): At least 39 Talibaninfo-icon insurgents have been killed and several others wounded as a result of a security operations, an official said on Tuesday.

The offensives were conducted in Kandahar, Zabul and Uruzgan provinces, said Ahmad Sadeq Esa, deputy spokesman for the 205thAtal Military Corps.

In the Chora district of Uruzgan, he said, 26 insurgents were killed and 36 others wounded during a military sweep.

In Kandahar, 11 fighters were killed and three others wounded in a commando raid in the Manda area of Maiwand district.

Two militants were also killed and the vehicle they were travelling in destroyed during a separate operation in Zabul province.

Taliban have not yet commented on the operations but claimed inflicting casualties on the security personnel in a number of southern provinces.
