Daesh rebels coming from Iran detected, captured: Stanikzai

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) chief on Tuesday said Iran in coordination with Afghan forces had arrested Daesh rebels who wanted to enter Afghanistaninfo-icon from the neighboring country.

Top security bosses were summoned to the upper house to inform lawmakers about the presence of Punjabi militants in Afghan Talibaninfo-icon ranks and efforts to reduce crimes.

The senators said elements who used Taliban as a tool to fuel the ongoing conflict were the real enemy of peace in Afghanistan.

NDS head Masoum Stanikzai said coordination among security institutions of the country had increased recently and they had huge achievements in this regard as well.

Referring to growing civilian casualties, he said security forces strived to prevent civilian and military personnel casualties and asked the Taliban to act responsibly and take care of non-combatants.

First Deputy Defence Minister Lt. Gen. Yasin Zia said the tactics of war had changed and now security forces had adopted aggressive approach against the enemy.

He said the plan to secure highways had been chalked out and people would soon see a positive change.

Acting Interior Minister Masoud Andarabi said a new strategy was being implemented to control crimes.

“In the past, police chased criminals but now their networks have been identified and efforts are on to capture them.”

He termed Taliban’s Al Khandaq operation as a failure and said it was formulated outside Afghanistan and the Taliban wanted to capture many districts and bring down the morale of security forces, but on the contrary, the Taliban suffered massive losses and were unable to achieve what they wanted to achieve.
