KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Calling Ashraf Ghani a former president, the Council of Presidential Candidates on Sunday termed moral corruption allegations at the Presidential Palace and doctoring Wolesi Jirgainfo-icon elections as of grave concern.

Gen. Habibullah Ahmadzai, a former special advisor to President Ashraf Ghani during an interview with a television channel had said he resigned over interference in his duty, wrong interpretation of democracy and promotion of ‘prostitution’ in the Presidential Palace.

He said no advisor or minister could do their work according to their working responsibilities and circles inside the Presidential Palace interfered their job. Some of the president’s advisors could hardly meet the president, he had claimed.

Ahmadzai said President Ghani during the last three years met with only a limited number of individuals and took their advices which he said yielded no positive result.

Some circles of advisors, ministers and public representatives in the Presidential Palace worked to promote prostitution, Ahmadzai alleged.

Ahmadzai said election commissions were unable to announce the original final results of Wolesi Jirga elections and the list earlier announced had been ordered by President Ghani.

Haroon Chakhansori, a spokesman for the president, told to a press conference here that anyone having such claims should provide evidence and follow them with the Attorney General Office.

He called Ahmadzai’s allegations as lies and personal obsessions and said the issue would be seriously investigated and its results would be shared with the Afghan public.

“The allegations of Ahmadzai are for seeking his previous job back after he failed in Wolesi Jirga election. He again came to the Presidential Palace and asked to be employed again as advisor, but he was rejected,” he said.

Shah Hussain Murtazavi, deputy spokesman to the president, in a Facebook post after Ahmadzai’s allegations said a psychological war against the government’s system had been waged.

“There is no doubt about shortcomings in the government, but damaging personalities and the government is a politically motivated move,” he said.

On the other hand, the Council of Presidential Candidates in a statement called the statements by Habibullah Ahmadzai as shocking.

“These statements have further worried the public and need to be investigated and Ashraf Ghani and his partners involved in doctoring parliamentary election as well as moral corruption should respond to the allegations,” the statement said.

The statement called Ashraf Ghani a former president as his tenure ended on May 22.

“Disclosing financial misuse and organized moral corruption in the Presidential Palace has added to the candidates mistrust over transparency and justice in election, Ashraf Ghani is responsible to provide clarification about illegal activities happened in the Presidential Palace, he should no longer behave like a dictator,” the statement read.

It said statements by Ahmadzai revealed the depth of electoral catastrophe and showed Ghani’s ‘circle’ had played with public votes, dignity and honor and pushed the country into a state of disorder and moral corruption.

“The Council of Presidential Candidates besides strongly condemning the Presidential Palace for doctoring elections, misuse of financial resources and promoting moral corruption, it also wants Ghani’s response to the public and investigations into these allegations,” the source said.

The council did not call Ghani a president of Afghanistaninfo-icon and said Ghani and ‘his circle’ again wanted to rig election and misuse financial resources for a second time. The council warned that Ghani’s circle would not be let again to engage in further law violations and continue its activities in violation of Sharia.
