Security forces, Taliban suffer causalities in Kunduz & Helmand

KUNDUZ CITY/LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): At least three security forces and 10 Talibaninfo-icon have been killed and in northern Kunduz and southern Helmand provinces, officials said on Sunday.

Kunduz police chief Col. Manzoor Stanikzai told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants stormed a security check-post in the Zakhel locality of the provincial capital on Saturday night.

He said three policemen were killed and two others wounded. The Taliban also suffered causalities in the firefight but he did not exact figure.

Elsewhere, foreign forces conducted airstrikes in Sangin, Musa Qala and Nad Ali districts of Helmand on Saturday night, Maj. Abdul Qadir Bahadarzoi, spokesman for the 215th Maiwand Military Corps, told Pajhwok.

He said a key insurgent commander named Sadaqat was among 10 militants killed in the airstrikes. Another three fighters were eliminated and as many wounded in Greshk district.

The Taliban have not yet commented on their casualties.
