KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Afghanistaninfo-icon's swashbuckling opener Hazratullah Zazai has been hailed as a six-machine who could his presence felt in the upcoming ICC Worldinfo-icon Cup.

Given his sturdy batting performance in the match against Ireland teammates extolled him as Afghanistan's Chris Gayle, the Sky Sportsinfo-icon reported.

Zazai smashed 16 maximums against Ireland in a 62-ball 162 not an innings that powered Afghanistan to a world-record T20I total of 278 for three.

In the process, he scripted history, breaking Aaron Finch's record of 14 sixes in a T20I match for Australia against England at The Ageas Bowl in 2013.

He completed a 42-ball century - the third-fastest in T20Is, behind South Africa's David Miller and India's Rohit Sharma. Zazai and Usman Ghani also forged a T20 record 236 runs partnership for the first wicket.

The 23-year-old from Paktia had characteried as 'Afghanistan's Gayle' in 2018 when he matched the Jamaican and India's Yuvraj Singh for the breeziest T20 fifty, a 12-ball effort for Kabul Zwanan against Balkh Legends.

He also shared Yuvraj’s record by striking six sixes in an over. The Indian had achieved the feat by smacking Stuart Broad during the 2007 ICC World T20.
