3 arrested with 2,500 kg of explosives in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): Intelligence operatives have seized 2,500 kilograms of explosives in the Bagrami district of Kabul, the spy-network announced on Tuesday.

The National Directorate of security (NDS) said in a statement the explosives were recovered during an operation by the intelligence agency’s special unit.

It accused the Taliban militants of placing 2.5 tonnes of ammonium nitrite in a truck for use in suicide bombings and other terrorist activities.

The statement added three individuals had been arrested in connection with the seizure of the explosives. The detainees were identified as Khawani, son of Ainullah, Awal Khan, son of Gula Jan, and Mohammad Gul, son of Sangin.
