KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Sri Lanka beat Afghanistaninfo-icon by 34 runs in a Worldinfo-icon Cup league match on Tuesday played at Cardiff.

Islanders were off to a flying start after they were invited to bat but thanks to Nabi for his thrilling spell by taking three crucial Sri Lankan wickets in an over. He grabbed four wickets.

Afghan bowlers made a strong come back and continued taking regular wickets till they restricted the Islanders to 201.

The rain also interrupted the game in the middle and as a result the target was brought down to 187 in 41 overs for Afghanistan.

But Afghan batsmen took a disappointing start and from the beginning they were unable to occupy the pitch and give difficult time to the Sri Lankan bowlers.

Sri Lankan bowlers made regular inroads in the Afghan batting line up and bundled them to 152 runs for the loss of 10 wickets.
