Army commander killed in Taliban ambush in Ghor

FIROZKOH (Pjhwok): An Afghan army commander was killed in a Talibaninfo-icon ambush in Dawlatyar district of  Ghorinfo-icon province, official said on Thursday.

Security official said the 207th Zafar Military Corps third battalion commander was killed amid an ongoing operation in the district east of Firozkoh, the provincial capital, this morning.

Syed Zia Hosseini, head of security at Civic Security Department, confirmed the death of the commander, Andarbi, but refused to provide more detail.

Meanwhile, Habibullah Radmansh, deputy governor of Ghor province, told Pajhwok that Andrabi was targeted in a Taliban ambush after the forces entered Samak village.

According to him, the Taliban were now withdrawing from the area and the area was under government’s control.

Andrabi was previously responsible for protecting Salma Dam in Cheshi district of Herat province. He had participated in several operations.
