47 freed in raids on Taliban jails in Baghlan, Kunduz

PUL-I-KHUMRI/ KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): The security forces have released 47 people from Talibaninfo-icon jails as a result of raids in northern Baghlan and Kunduz provinces, an official said on Tuesday.

Nasrat Rahimi, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (MoI), told Pajhwok Afghan News that special forces raided a Taliban-run jail in the Larkhabi area of Baghlan and freed 34 individuals on Monday night.

He said the released individuals included seven policemen, seven Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers; three NDSinfo-icon personnel and civilians.

Meanwhile, a statement from the 217th Pamir Military Corps, said commandos conducted a raid on a Taliban prison in the Aqtash district of Kunduz on Monday night.

It added 13 civilians were released from the Taliban jail. But the militant the group has not yet commented in this regard.
