6 civilians killed in Farah drone strike

FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Six civilians were killed in a US drone strike in the Balaboluk district of western Farah province on Friday morning, local residents said.

Haji Ziauddin and Haji Hassamuddin, the residents of Shewan village, confirmed to Pajhwok the drone strike and said eight civilians who wanted to transfer their family member to Herat for treatment came under drone attack on Farah-Herat Highway 200 meteres from Afghan Army base.

He said six people, including one 70-year-old man and two children, were killed while two others injured who have been in critical condition.

The residents of locality claimed two shops had been destroyed in the drone strike.

Police Spokesman Mohibullah Mohib rejected the killing of civilians in the drone strike and added eight Talibaninfo-icon were killed in the airstrike.

The Taliban rejected the killing of their group’s members and said civilians suffered casualties who were waiting on the highway to catch the bus.
