KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): In an unexpected move, India has declined a request from the Afghanistaninfo-icon Cricket Board (ACB) to host the T20 League.

An Indian board official was quoted as saying by TNT on Wednesday that the ACB had requested them to host its league.

“But it would not be appropriate considering we have our own league (the IPL)," the official of the Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI) said.

The ACB had asked BCCI CEO Rahul Johri and GM Cricket Operations Saba Karim during their meeting in Mumbai on May 16 for hosting the event.

The response from BCCI, which has has contributed immensely to the growth of Afghanistan cricket, represents an unexpected decision.

The inaugural Afghanistan Premier League in Sharjah last year, involving five teams, was won by Balkh Legends.

Asadullah Khan, the ACB CEO, had also asked India for a third home ground. The Afghans are already allowed to use Dehradun and Greater Noida.

The Afghans could be permitted to use Lucknow as their third home ground in India.
