KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Pakistaninfo-icon’s Embassy Counselor Adeel Khan has expressed grief over the death of an elderly visa applicant 500 metres from the consulate in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province.

“We are deeply saddened by an incident which happened some 500 meters at first of the 3 security checkpoints near consulate of Pakistan in Jalalabad, where an elderly man passed away after being taken to hospital, prima facie due to his previous medical history,” he said in a tweet.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the deceased. We wish to clarify that all medical visa applications are expeditiously processed at the consulate and no one is denied visa,” he added.

Khan added they did not want patients and elderly people to visit the consulate; their applications could be submitted by their family members. There are separate queues for ladies, children and elderly visa applicants.

“We also wish to clarify that perimeter security of and queuing outside the consulate is exclusively under the preview of local authorities.”
