1 policeman killed, 7 wounded in Nangarhar roadside bombing

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A roadside bomb ripped through a police vehicle in the Pachiragam district of eastern Nangarhar province on Monday, killing one policeman and injuring seven others including the district police chief.

The blast hit the Pachiragam district police chief’s pick up vehicle at about 3:30pm, said deputy police spokesman Faridullah Khan.

He said the district police chief, Col. Syed Agha, four national and two border policemen were among eight others wounded in the blast that killed one policeman onboard the vehicle.

Meanwhile, the governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, also confirmed the attack and said the district officials had informed them of injuries to eight policemen in the blast.

An eyewitness of the attack, Shakirullah, said the police vehicle passing through the area when it struck a roadside bomb. Later police and local residents took the injured to hospital in Jalalabad, the provincial capital.
