7 security forces, 6 rebels killed in fresh offensives

NEILI/ HEART CITY/ CHARIKARinfo-icon (Pajhwok): At least seven security forces and a Talibaninfo-icon key commander along with five other militants have been killed as a result of clashes in central Daikundi and western Heart provinces.

Naqibullah Malistani, deputy police chief for Daikundi province, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Taliban insurgents stormed security check-posts in Munara-i-Kagran area at 2 am on Wednesday night.

Three Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers, four local policemen were killed and four others wounded, he said, adding the clash between security forces and Taliban was still ongoing.

According to an official wishing anonymity, a number of security check-posts fell into the hands of Taliban as a result of fierce clash and the rebels also seized all the ammunition.

In Herat, A key Taliban commander, Mullahinfo-icon Fazal Ahmad known as Hijrat was killed along with five other insurgents during an operation in Aliabad village of Shindand district, the governor’s spokesman said.

JailaniFarhad said the slain notorious commander had been involved in many suicide attacks, kidnappings and other organized crimes in Heart province.

Niaz Mohammad, a resident of the district, said present of large number of Taliban fighters in the district resulted in intensified violence particularly during nights in the area. Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.

In Kapisa, four civilians and four Taliban militants were injured in joint security forces raid in Alasai district of central Kapisa province.

Police spokesman Abdul SahiqShorish said that four populated areas were cleared of militants’ presence during the operation. Security forces suffered no casualties.

Taliban have so far did not comment on the regard.
