Arabian gold down, other items’ rates stable in Kabul

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The price of Arabian gold has dipped by two percent while that of other essential items remain unchanged during the ongoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.

Haji Fawad Ahmad Salehzada, a jeweler in Timor Shahee area of Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of one gram of Arabian gold decreased from 2,900 Afghanis to 2,850 Afghans while the same quantity of Russian variety stayed at 2,400afs.

He linked hike in gold prices to its rates in international markets.

The prices of food items remain unchanged.

Mohammad Hamayon, head of Food Traders Union in Kabul, said that the price of 49 kilograms of Kazakhstani was 1,470afs, a tin of 16 liters of Khurshid ghee 1,080afs, 49kg of Pakistani sugar 2,040afs, a bag of 24kg of Pakistani rice 2,200afs, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea 280afs and the same quantity of African black tea 300afs, same rates of last week’s.

Ahmad Samim, who owns a grocery store in Taimani area of Kabul, sold a 50-kg sack of Kazakhstani flour for 1,530afs, a 49-kg bag of sugar for 2,100afs, 24-kg of Pakistani rice 2,500afs a 16-litre tin of ghee for 1,150afs, one-kg of Indonesian green tea for 320afs and the same amount of black African tea for 360afs—higher than wholesale rates.

Fuel rates also remain steady.

Abdul Hadi, a worker at Wazirabad Fuel Station in Kabul said a liter of petrol cost 52afs and the same quantity of diesel 49afs, the same rates of last week’s.

Mohammad Ikram, a liquefied gas seller in Taimani area, said the price of one kilogram of the commodity was 65afs, no changes have recorded in its price.

Haji Mir Hussian Sadaqat, a moneychanger at the Money Exchange Service in Sara-i-Shahzada, said one US dollar was accounted for 80.10afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 511afs against last week’s 81.50afs and 505afs.
