48 Taliban killed, 10 wounded in Logar night raids

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Security forces killed 48 Talibaninfo-icon militants and wounded another 10 wounded during ground and air operations in central Logar province, officials said on Monday.

Police spokesman Shahpur Ahmadzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News the ground and air operations were carried out against Taliban militants in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, Baraki Barak and Khoshi districts late Sunday night.

He said the operations resulted in the killing of 48 militants, including key figures involved in destructive activities.

Ahmadzai said security forces and civilians suffered no casualties in the operations.

Meanwhile, 203 Thunder Military Corps acting spokesman Eimal Khan told Pajhwok that Afghan security forces targeted militant hideouts in Rustamkhel area of Baraki Barak district late Sunday night.

He said the nighttime airstrike killed at least 15 Taliban militants and injured 16 others and destroyed their vehicle.

Zahir, a resident of the area, confirmed the airstrike to Pajhwok and said all Taliban militants onboard the vehicle were killed.

The Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.
