To benefit Afghans: AREU, RCRE to conduct join research

Jul 08, 2019 - 18:22

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Afghanistaninfo-icon Research and Evaluation Unit (AREU) and the Regional Economic Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA) Center for Research and Evaluation (RCRE) would conduct a joint research that could benefit Afghanistan and the wider RECCA region, a statement said Monday.

The statement from AREU said the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together on arranging joint events, improving research capacity and conducting research on common priority areas related to regional economic cooperation and integration issues based on the best international standards for the benefits of Afghanistan and the wider RECCA region.

Both parties agreed to work together, depending on their capacity and resource availability, to carry out certain activities such as organizing joint seminars and conferences, providing training in relevant areas of research, knowledge sharing and hosting experts, exchanging of interns for short periods, and collaborating to develop research agendas.

AREU, an independent research institute based in Kabul, was established in 2002 by the assistance of the international community in Afghanistan.

AREU has been ranked as the top think-tank in Afghanistan by the University of Pennsylvania’s Global Go To Think Tank Index Report in 2017, 2018, and 2019. The report also ranked the organization as number 5 in Central Asia. In 2018, UK-based Prospect Magazine recognized AREU as the top International Social Think Tank.
