Herat security leaders’ meeting praises anti-rebel gains

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok) Afghan and coalition forces leaders attended a security meeting in western Herat province on Tuesday, praising security forces’ gains against insurgents.

The meeting from Kabulinfo-icon was attended by deputy defense minister Brigadier General Khoshal Sadat, deputy interior minister for security Dr. Yasin Zia and General Scott Miller, Resolute Support Commander.

Major General Fazil Mohammad Junbish, 207th Corps Commander, Major General Aminullah Amarkhel, provincial police chief Abdul Matin Bek, Chairman of the Independent Directorate of Local Governance also attended the meeting with governor Abdul Rahimi.

Governor Rahimi stated, “The 207th Corps soldiers are one of the best, what a great operation they recently completed to defeat the Talibaninfo-icon.”

“The corps and police are doing a great work. Their teamwork during this operation defeated the enemy. Thank you all the units and the Corps Commander who coordinated this operation.”

Rahimi discussed several development projects which were in the offing and those under way saying these schemes would improve Afghan people’s living standard.

“Direct association between Taliban and drug dealers, trafficking, taxing, extorting, they use drugs to fund their operations,” said Rahimi.

Maj. Gen. Fazil Mohammad Junbesh said the strength of security forces lied in coordination among the provincial government, the Ministry of Interior and security forces.

“We are consolidating our checkpoints into strong bases from where we can attack the enemy.”

Brigadier General Khoshal Sadat said good leadership, coordination and strong soldiers could guarantee operations’ success.

“The enemy is scared, their morale is down, they use lies and propaganda to deceive the people but your successes expos their lies.”

Dr. Yasin Zia said: “I want to begin by praising the great Afghan National Army Territorial Forces here in Herat. They are strong and an important part of the security here.”

Rahimi said: “It’s not about one single person, but the team that makes us strong. The success is of the Herati people.”

General Miller congratulated the great success of the Herat security forces and reaffirmed support to the Afghan people.
